Rebekah Brooks arrested

Rebekah Brooks (previous name Wade) has been arrested today, 17th July 2011. Police issued statement:

"She was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications, contrary to Section1(1) Criminal Law Act 1977 and on suspicion of corruption allegations contrary to Section 1 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1906."

Click HERE to read May 2003 report, paragraph 92 where Ms Wade told Parliamentary Committee: "We have paid the police for information in the past."[100] When asked whether the practice would continue in the future, Ms Wade said "It depends" and Mr Coulson intervened saying, "We operate within the Code and within the law and if there is a clear public interest then we will" .

She is due to appear before Parliamentary Select Committee: Culture, Media and Sport Committee on Tuesday, 19th July at 2.30 pm. I guess she will be released. This would beat least her third appearance before Parliamentary Select Committee because of the nature of her work.

Police are conducting new investigations under the name of Operation Weeting and at present are not able to give more information.

Scotland Yard Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson cited allegations surrounding his association with former News of the World deputy editor Neil Wallis for his resignation hours after Ms Rebekah Brooks arrest.
